Treadmill Terminology
Incline
The tilt of the running deck that simulates uphill running. Some entry level treadmill will feature a "manual incline" feature. This means you have to manually adjust the incline when you are not on the machine. "Power incline" is a term often used to described automatic incline that is controlled via buttons or a disc as you train. We would not recommend a treadmill with manual incline.
Belt
The moving belt which you run on. This is also called a "running deck".
Motorised treadmill
This refers to a treadmill containing electric motors that move and tilt the deck for you as you walk or run. It is a term often used to differentiate itself from the cheap, "manual treadmill" alternative. A manual treadmill operates by pushing the conveyor belt with your feet (not recommended).
